Ringgit Opens Higher Against US Dollar as West Asia Peace Talks Shape Sentiment

Kuala Lumpur, 11 May 2026 – The ringgit opened higher against the US dollar on Monday as investors monitored ongoing peace negotiations over the West Asia crisis, although market sentiment remained guarded amid higher oil prices and uncertainty over the progress of talks.

At 8.00am, the ringgit rose to 3.9170/9230 against the greenback, compared with 3.9185/9230 at Friday’s close. The modest gain reflected cautious support for the local note as traders weighed diplomatic developments, oil-market volatility and upcoming domestic economic data.
