Malaysia Seeks Norway Clarification After Missile Supply Halt Affects LCS Programme

Kuala Lumpur, 8 May 2026 – Malaysia’s Defence Ministry will seek clarification from Norway after a change in Oslo’s defence export approval position disrupted the supply of guided missiles intended for the Royal Malaysian Navy’s Littoral Combat Ship programme.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the ministry has taken note of the Norwegian government’s revised position on defence export approvals, which has affected the implementation of Malaysia’s existing procurement contract with Norwegian defence company Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace AS. The contract involves the supply of Naval Strike Missile systems intended for the LCS project.
