Putrajaya, 11 May 2026 – Tan Sri Azam Baki is preparing to leave the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission after 42 years in public service, saying he has no regrets despite facing criticism, public scrutiny and political pressure during his tenure as the country’s top graft buster.
Azam’s term as MACC chief commissioner ends on 12 May 2026, closing a career that began in 1984 and eventually placed him at the centre of some of Malaysia’s most closely watched corruption investigations. He retired in 2023 upon reaching the age of 60, but his service contract was extended three times before his latest term came to an end.
