KUALA LUMPUR, 20 May 2026 – Malaysia’s trade surged 28.6% year-on-year to a record RM336.73 billion in April 2026, marking the country’s strongest monthly trade performance as exports of electrical and electronic products, petroleum products and manufactured goods accelerated.
Exports jumped 36.9% year-on-year to a record RM182.7 billion, while imports rose 11.2% to RM154.0 billion. The stronger export performance lifted Malaysia’s trade surplus to RM28.8 billion, sharply higher than RM5.1 billion recorded in April last year and the largest surplus since June 2023.
