SC Tightens Digital Asset Exchange Rules as Malaysia Targets Stronger Investor Protection

KUALA LUMPUR, 20 May 2026 – The Securities Commission Malaysia has revised its Guidelines on Recognized Markets, strengthening the regulatory framework for Digital Asset Exchange operators as Malaysia moves to build a more competitive, credible and investor-protected digital asset market.

The revised Guidelines mark a significant step in the development of Malaysia’s digital asset ecosystem, particularly as institutional participation in the asset class continues to grow globally. The Securities Commission said the enhancements are designed to help regulated DAX operators bring products to market faster while holding them to higher standards of governance, accountability and operational resilience.
