KUALA LUMPUR, 19 May 2026 – Southeast Asia’s e-commerce market is expected to expand sharply over the next five years, reaching US$289.8 billion by 2029 as digital payments, mobile wallets, instant payment systems and small business adoption accelerate across the region.
The projection was highlighted in How Southeast Asia Buys and Pays 2026: Unlocking SMEs’ Potential, a report by 2C2P by Antom. The report estimates that Southeast Asia’s e-commerce market will grow by 85.4% from 2024 to 2029, supported by a compound annual growth rate of 13.2%. This would make the region the world’s second fastest-growing e-commerce market during the period.
