KUALA LUMPUR: The Communications and Multimedia Content Forum of Malaysia (CMCF) is exploring the introduction of a “trusted creator list” to rank Malaysian content creators based on their reliability and adherence to ethical standards.
CMCF chief operating officer Mediha Mahmood said the initiative, set to launch next year, aims to highlight creators who consistently follow content guidelines and uphold best practices. The goal is to foster a healthier and more responsible digital environment.
According to Mediha, the list would act as an indicator for brands and the public, signaling that these creators are unlikely to produce content that promotes hate, threatens public safety, or exploits vulnerable communities.
“Rather than taking a punitive approach, we want to encourage responsible content by recognizing those who are informed about the standards, regularly assessed, and consistently compliant,” she said during an interview on NST’s Beyond the Headlines.
She added that being on the list would serve as a “badge of trust,” showing that a creator is unlikely to engage in controversial or harmful behavior.
The initiative, Mediha noted, would also help brands and digital platforms identify trustworthy partners, while empowering audiences to support content that aligns with shared community values.
