MCMC and Health Ministry to Pilot Drone Medicine Delivery in Tawau

Kuala Lumpur, 19 July 2026 – The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission and the Health Ministry are preparing to launch a drone-based medicine delivery pilot in Tawau, Sabah, as Malaysia explores how digital infrastructure can improve healthcare access for rural communities.

The project is expected to begin around September or October under the National Information Dissemination Centre Smart Services programme. It is designed to serve residents in approximately 12 villages, particularly communities where distance and limited transport make collecting regular medication difficult.
