Apple Music’s RM1 price increase in Malaysia may look small on its own. But for consumers already paying for music, movies, cloud storage, delivery, games and AI tools every month, the bigger question is whether the subscription economy is starting to feel too heavy.
One ringgit does not sound like much.
It is less than the price of a canned drink, less than parking in many city areas, and much less than what Malaysians spend on coffee, delivery fees or a casual meal outside. So when Apple Music’s individual plan in Malaysia rises from RM16.90 to RM17.90 per month, it may look like a small change.
But the problem is not one ringgit.
The problem is that everything has become a monthly bill.
