Kuala Lumpur, 30 June 2026 – Malaysia is sharpening its push into higher-value areas of the semiconductor industry, with policymakers and industry leaders placing stronger emphasis on talent development as the country seeks to move further up the global chip value chain.

The strategy comes as global demand for semiconductors continues to accelerate, driven by artificial intelligence, electric vehicles, cloud computing, industrial automation and advanced electronics. Malaysia, already a major player in semiconductor assembly, testing and packaging, is now seeking to deepen its position in integrated circuit design, advanced packaging, smart manufacturing and innovation-led production.
