Seoul, 29 June 2026 – South Korean President Lee Jae Myung is set to unveil a major national investment drive aimed at strengthening the country’s leadership in semiconductors, artificial intelligence data centres and robotics, as the global technology race becomes increasingly capital-intensive.
The initiative will centre on three mega-projects spanning chips, AI infrastructure and physical AI, including robotics. The plan is expected to include a new semiconductor hub in South Korea’s southwest, covering areas such as Gwangju and South Jeolla province, as the government seeks to spread high-value industrial development beyond the Seoul metropolitan region.
