Gas Malaysia And Greenergy To Explore Biomass Steam Projects As Industries Seek Lower-Carbon Energy Options

Shah Alam, 27 April 2026 – Gas Malaysia Berhad and Wasco Greenergy Berhad are moving to explore biomass-fired steam systems for industrial users in Peninsular Malaysia, as companies across the country weigh practical options to reduce carbon emissions without compromising energy reliability and cost competitiveness.

Gas Malaysia, a member of MMC Group, and Wasco Greenergy Berhad, known as Greenergy, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to conduct a joint feasibility study on biomass-fired steam systems for industrial applications. The collaboration will examine how biomass can be used to support industrial heat requirements, particularly in sectors where steam plays a critical role in manufacturing and processing operations.
