Singapore and New Zealand Sign Essential Supply Pact to Keep Critical Goods Moving During Crises

Singapore, 4 May 2026 – Singapore and New Zealand have signed a landmark agreement to keep essential supplies flowing during periods of global crisis, creating a legally binding framework aimed at protecting trade in critical goods such as food, fuel, healthcare products, chemical materials and construction supplies.

The Agreement on Trade in Essential Supplies was signed at the Singapore-New Zealand Annual Leaders’ Meeting in Singapore by Singapore’s Minister-in-charge of Energy, Science and Technology Tan See Leng and New Zealand’s Minister for Trade and Investment Todd McClay. The signing was witnessed by Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon.
