Kuala Lumpur, 28 May 2026 – The ringgit opened mostly higher against major currencies on Thursday, although it eased slightly against the US dollar as investors remained cautious over ongoing United States-Iran negotiations and the broader impact on global risk sentiment.
At 8am, the local note slipped to 3.9670/9770 against the greenback, compared with Tuesday’s close of 3.9660/9705. The marginal weakness reflected continued demand for the US dollar as a safe-haven currency, with traders watching whether diplomatic efforts between Washington and Tehran can ease uncertainty around energy markets and inflation risks.
