Alibaba’s New Qwen Model Climbs Coding Rankings, Outpacing OpenAI and Google Rivals

Hangzhou, 27 May 2026 – Alibaba Group Holding’s latest artificial intelligence model has secured a top-tier position on a major global coding leaderboard, strengthening the Chinese technology giant’s credentials in the increasingly competitive race to build advanced AI systems for software development.

The company’s new model, Qwen3.7-Max, scored 1,541 on the Code Arena ranking, placing it fourth globally and ahead of competing models from OpenAI and Google. The ranking made Alibaba the only developer outside Anthropic to occupy a top-five position, with the other four leading spots held by various Claude models.
