Nearly 90% of Malaysia’s Oil Palm Plantations Certified

MELAKA: As of June 30, a total of 5.03 million hectares, or 89.6% of Malaysia’s oil palm plantation area, has been certified under the Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) scheme, according to Deputy Plantation and Commodities Minister Datuk Chan Fong Hin.

He said the milestone underscores the palm oil industry’s strong commitment to sustainable practices that meet internationally recognised standards.

“The MSPO certification also upholds strict guidelines to ensure plantation companies and smallholders are free from any involvement in forced labour,” he added.
