San Francisco, 7 June 2026 – OpenAI is reportedly preparing a major overhaul of ChatGPT, aiming to transform the chatbot into a broader “superapp” that combines coding tools, AI agents, image generation and third-party services as the company strengthens its commercial position ahead of a potential stock-market listing.
The reported redesign would mark one of the most significant changes to ChatGPT since its launch, shifting the product further away from a simple conversational chatbot and toward a multifunctional AI platform. According to the report, OpenAI plans to give greater prominence to Codex, its coding product, while redesigning ChatGPT’s website and mobile apps to guide users toward tools for software development, image creation and partner integrations.
