HONG KONG, 10 September 2025 — Hong Kong businessman Albert Yeung achieved a remarkable result at a Sotheby’s auction today, selling off his prized collection of rare wines for HK$17.7 million (approximately US$2.3 million). The auction transformed an earlier non-binding exhibition into a lucrative sale, drawing global collectors to vie for prestigious vintages.

Holdings were sourced from “The Majestic Cellar of Dr. Albert Yeung,” a famed lineup that once held an estimated value of over HK$10 million. Among the standout offerings were sought-after Burgundy legends, including top-Domaine de la Romanée-Conti bottles and exceptional vintages from Henri Jayer such as Cros Parantoux. From Bordeaux, the collection featured Pétrus spanning from 1966 to 2011, the celebrated Le Pin 1982, and a rare double-magnum of Latour à Pomerol 1947—a bottle that has seldom appeared at auction in recent decades.
Sotheby’s Asia Head of Wine, George Lacey, described the collection as a vault of “the greatest names in the world of wine,” remarking on the exceptional concentration of rarity and quality. Yeung, 81, is best known as the founder of the Emperor Group, which launched the careers of marquee Cantopop acts including Nicholas Tse and Joey Yung, and maintained close ties with Jackie Chan. The auction underscored Yeung’s discerning passion for fine wine and luxury curation.
The HK$17.7 million tally more than doubled the initial estimated value, demonstrating strong market appetite for ultra-rare wines—particularly Burgundy—and reinforcing Hong Kong’s status as Asia’s premier wine auction hub.
