SME Corp Pushes Digitalisation and Automation as MSMEs Face New Growth Demands

Kuala Lumpur, 1 May 2026 – SME Corporation Malaysia is intensifying its push to help micro, small and medium enterprises adopt digitalisation and automation, as smaller businesses face rising pressure to improve productivity, control costs and remain competitive in a more technology-driven economy.

SME Corp chief executive officer Rizal Nainy said many MSMEs still view digitalisation as an additional expense rather than a strategic investment, especially when returns may not be visible in the short term. This mindset remains one of the biggest barriers to technology adoption among smaller firms, even as digital tools become increasingly important for market access, customer engagement and business efficiency.
