LG Energy Solution Secures US$1.6 Billion DTE Deal as Michigan Battery Storage Push Accelerates

Detroit, 28 May 2026 – LG Energy Solution Vertech has secured a US$1.6 billion procurement agreement with DTE Energy to supply battery energy storage systems for eight projects in Michigan, strengthening the state’s role in the US clean-energy supply chain as power demand from electrification, data centres and artificial intelligence continues to rise.

The agreement covers battery storage projects totalling 1.5 gigawatts, or 6 gigawatt-hours, of capacity. The systems will be manufactured in Holland, Michigan, with deliveries scheduled over a two-year period. DTE said the projects are intended to store electricity during periods of excess generation and discharge power when customer demand peaks, helping improve grid reliability and reduce strain on the system.
