Malaysia’s Q1 GDP May Beat Estimates as Domestic Demand and Trade Momentum Hold Up

Kuala Lumpur, 14 May 2026 – Malaysia’s first-quarter gross domestic product may come in better than earlier estimates, as resilient domestic demand, steady services activity and firmer trade momentum continue to support the economy despite global uncertainty.

Economy Minister Datuk Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said the country’s official first-quarter GDP performance may exceed the earlier advance estimate, with the final data expected to provide a clearer picture of Malaysia’s economic strength at the start of 2026.
