Trump Lands in China With Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang as AI Chip Access Takes Centre Stage

Beijing, 13 May 2026 – US President Donald Trump arrived in Beijing with a high-powered business delegation that included Nvidia Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang and Tesla Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk, as Washington seeks economic wins and a more stable trade relationship with China during a two-day summit with President Xi Jinping.

The visit marks the first trip by a US president to China in nearly a decade and comes at a politically sensitive moment for both markets and global supply chains. Trump is expected to ask Xi to “open up” China further to American businesses, with talks likely to cover trade, tariffs, artificial intelligence, semiconductor exports, rare earths, aviation, agriculture, energy and broader investment access.
