KUALA LUMPUR, 18 May 2026 – Bursa Malaysia started the week on a cautious note after an initial higher opening, as investors weighed positive domestic earnings expectations against softer broader-market sentiment, unresolved US-China trade concerns and renewed geopolitical risk.

The benchmark FBM KLCI slipped marginally in early trade, easing 0.22 of-a-point, or 0.01%, to 1,740.00 after opening at 1,741.94. The index moved between 1,738.34 and 1,742.31 in the early session, reflecting a market still searching for stronger conviction after recent selling pressure.
