Kuala Lumpur, 19 June 2026 – Malaysia recorded one of its strongest trade performances in recent years, with total trade expanding 29.8% year-on-year to RM327 billion in May 2026, marking the fastest pace of growth in 44 months and underscoring the resilience of the country’s export-driven economy.

The robust expansion reflects sustained global demand for Malaysian-made products, particularly in high-value manufacturing segments that have become increasingly important to international supply chains. The latest figures also reinforce Malaysia’s growing role in supporting the global technology ecosystem, where demand for semiconductors, electronics and digital infrastructure continues to accelerate.
