Beijing, 15 June 2026 – ByteDance is in talks with Chinese chipmaker Iluvatar CoreX to purchase artificial-intelligence chips, in a move that reflects how China’s largest technology companies are accelerating the shift toward domestic AI hardware as US export controls reshape the global semiconductor market.
The TikTok parent is discussing the purchase of AI chips from Shanghai-based Iluvatar CoreX for inference workloads, while also considering the use of Baidu’s Kunlunxin chips. If finalised, Iluvatar would become ByteDance’s third major domestic supplier of graphics processing units after Huawei and Cambricon.
