KUALA KANGSAR: The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, today officially opened the Sultan Muzaffar Shah Bridge at Dataran Manong.
Accompanied by the Raja Permaisuri of Perak, Tuanku Zara Salim, His Royal Highness arrived at 11am together with Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad and his wife, Datin Seri Aezer Zubin. Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi and Public Works Department (PWD) director-general Datuk Roslan Ismail were also in attendance.
In his address, Nanta said the 300-metre bridge and its three-kilometre access road now connect Pekan Manong to Kampung Seberang Manong, bringing together two communities once divided by a river.
“This bridge not only improves mobility for the people, but also strengthens community bonds, spurs growth in tourism, trade and agriculture, and creates more economic opportunities for surrounding areas,” he said.

He added that the project symbolises well-planned development and reflects the joint commitment of the federal and state governments, in line with the Malaysia Madani vision which champions humanitarian values, sustainability, well-being, and social justice.
Nanta also expressed his gratitude to all who contributed to the project’s completion, saying he hoped continued cooperation between the federal and state governments would lead to more high-impact developments in Perak Darul Ridzuan.
Costing over RM37 million, the Sultan Muzaffar Shah Bridge was built under the 11th Malaysia Plan and completed on October 25, 2019.
