Washington, 6 October 2026 – United States President Donald Trump’s decision to shift the cost of promotional television advertisements away from federal funds has turned an election-year controversy into a broader test of public spending controls, political finance transparency and the safeguards separating government communication from campaign activity.

Trump said future advertisements would be paid for through his super political action committee, MAGA Inc, or other political and personal funds after criticism from both major parties.
