Kuala Lumpur, 12 July 2026 – Malaysia’s consumer spending is expected to moderate in the third quarter of 2026 before regaining momentum towards the end of the year, as households become more selective amid inflationary pressures and wider economic uncertainty.
CIMB Securities maintained a Neutral outlook on the consumer sector, noting that much of this year’s festive-related spending had already been brought forward into the first quarter. This reduces the likelihood of a similarly strong spending pattern in the months ahead.
