Kuala Lumpur, 27 June 2026 – Malaysia is experiencing a record surge in Chinese tourist arrivals, reinforcing the country’s position as one of Southeast Asia’s most popular destinations for Chinese travellers as authorities intensify efforts ahead of Visit Malaysia 2026. Chinese visitor arrivals have risen sharply over the past year, supported by visa-free travel arrangements, expanded flight connectivity and growing interest in Malaysia’s cultural, lifestyle and nature-based attractions.

The tourism momentum has placed Malaysia among the leading ASEAN destinations for Chinese visitors, reflecting the success of recent tourism promotion campaigns and stronger bilateral travel links between Kuala Lumpur and major Chinese cities. As of mid-2025, Malaysia had already welcomed more than 2.17 million Chinese visitors, representing growth of more than 35% compared with the previous year.
