Swatch Seeks US$170 Million From Samsung in Landmark UK Smartwatch Trademark Battle

LONDON, 27 June 2026 — Swiss watchmaking giant Swatch Group is seeking US$170 million (approximately RM720 million) in damages from Samsung Electronics following a trademark infringement dispute over smartwatch applications, in what Swatch describes as the largest trademark damages claim of its kind in the United Kingdom.

The case centres on third-party applications available on Samsung smartwatches that allowed users to display digital replicas of iconic Swatch-owned watch faces, including luxury brands Omega and Tissot.
