Malaysians Redefine Legacy Around Self-Reliance and Health Longevity, Manulife Survey Finds

Kuala Lumpur, 19 August 2026 – Malaysian consumers are undergoing a major cultural shift in retirement and estate planning, increasingly defining self-reliance, physical health, and personal financial independence as the primary legacy they intend to leave their families, according to findings from the Manulife Asia Care Survey 2026.

The benchmark study, titled “Independence as the New Legacy”, surveyed more than 9,000 respondents across Asia, including 1,000 individuals in Malaysia, to evaluate regional attitudes toward longevity, caregiving demands, healthcare readiness, and retirement financing.
