KUALA LUMPUR – A new bill to regulate co-located border control operations for the Johor Bahru–Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS Link) will be tabled in the Dewan Rakyat in February 2026, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said.
The legislation is intended to streamline operations at the Bukit Chagar and Woodlands North customs, immigration and quarantine (CIQ) stations, ahead of the RTS Link’s scheduled launch in January 2027. Saifuddin noted that without the bill, 37 existing laws would require amendments, making a consolidated framework the most efficient option.
The 4km cross-border line, slated for completion by December 2026, will carry up to 10,000 passengers per hour in each direction, or about 40,000 daily.
