Malaysian Workforce Moves Ahead on AI as Microsoft Says Organisations Must Catch Up

Kuala Lumpur, 23 June 2026 – Malaysia’s workforce is moving faster than many organisations in adopting artificial intelligence, creating a widening gap between employee capability and how work is structured, according to Microsoft’s 2026 Work Trend Index.

The study found that 24% of workers in Malaysia are classified as Frontier Professionals, the most advanced AI users in the research, compared with 16% globally. These workers are not only using AI more frequently, but also applying it in more sophisticated ways to analyse information, solve problems, evaluate options and think creatively.
