Netflix Chief Product Officer Eunice Kim Steps Down After Five-Year Tenure

Los Gatos, California, 10 September 2025 – Netflix announced that Eunice Kim, who has spearheaded the company’s product strategy since joining in 2021, is stepping down from her role as Chief Product Officer, a position she assumed in 2023. The departure comes amid a wave of product innovation and strategic transformation at the streaming giant. Interim leadership will fall to Chief Technology Officer Elizabeth Stone, who will oversee product operations until a permanent successor is named.

During her tenure, Kim played a pivotal role in redesigning Netflix’s connected-TV interface, launching in May with a focus on simplicity and an improved user experience. Her leadership in product development also helped guide the streaming service through expansion from 200 million to over 300 million global subscribers, driven in part by the successful rollout and scaling of the newly introduced ad-supported subscription tier. Prior to her time at Netflix, Kim held senior product roles at Google Play and YouTube—experiences that shaped her user-centric design philosophy.

Kim’s exit coincides with Netflix’s broader strategic pivot. The company continues to diversify its offerings through live content—including partnerships with WWE—and an expanded focus on advertising, although leadership maintains advertising is not expected to be a primary revenue engine in the near term. Despite exceeding second-quarter earnings expectations and raising its full-year revenue forecast in July, investor sentiment remains cautious, with gains attributed more to favorable currency shifts than a surge in content demand.
