Singapore, 25 June 2026 – Shipping through the Strait of Hormuz is showing signs of recovery, but the return to normal trade flows remains fragile as vessel operators, energy traders and insurers continue to assess security risks around one of the world’s most important oil and gas routes.
The improvement in traffic has eased some immediate fears of a severe energy supply disruption, particularly after crude flows through the waterway moved closer to normal levels. The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical maritime chokepoint, carrying a major share of global oil and liquefied natural gas trade from the Gulf to Asia and other markets.
