GUANGZHOU: Unilever, the London-based consumer goods giant, has officially launched its first all-category food production base in China, marking a major step in advancing smart manufacturing and supply chain integration in the country, Xinhua reported.
Situated in Guangdong Province in southern China, the new facility is aimed at strengthening Unilever’s operational efficiency in the region and reinforcing its supply chain network for the Chinese market.
Alongside the production base, a logistics park has also been inaugurated, serving as a central hub for cross-regional distribution of the company’s food business. The warehouse boasts around 70% higher storage density compared to standard facilities, while its receiving and dispatching capacity has increased by 60%.
“The opening of this base reinforces our confidence in future growth,” said Joyce Zhou, general manager of Unilever Foods North Asia, adding that the company is committed to adopting green production methods to enhance both capacity and value creation.
Unilever, one of the world’s leading consumer goods companies, already operates a regional headquarters and a global research and development centre in Shanghai, as well as eight major production bases and logistics centres across China.
