Ringgit Opens Firmer as Investors Await Key US Economic Signals

Kuala Lumpur, 3 August 2026 – The ringgit opened higher against the US dollar as investors positioned cautiously ahead of key American economic data that could reshape expectations for Federal Reserve policy and the greenback’s near-term direction.

The local currency traded around the RM4.08 level against the US dollar during early dealings, extending its recent resilience after the Federal Reserve left interest rates unchanged at its July meeting. Currency markets are now looking for clearer evidence of whether the US economy remains strong enough to justify another rate increase.
