Kuala Lumpur, 6 August 2026 – The ringgit opened slightly firmer against the US dollar on Thursday as weaker-than-expected American employment and services data reduced support for the greenback, although caution ahead of the US non-farm payrolls report kept currency movements contained.
At 8am, the ringgit traded at 4.0905/0960 against the US dollar, strengthening marginally from Wednesday’s closing level of 4.0920/0960. The movement followed a 0.18% decline in the US Dollar Index to 99.676, according to the reported currency data.
