Ringgit Closes Higher Ahead of Crucial US Employment Report

Kuala Lumpur, 6 August 2026 – The ringgit ended firmer against the US dollar on Thursday, although its advance remained modest as investors avoided large positions before the release of closely watched American employment data.

At 6pm, the Malaysian currency strengthened to 4.0875/0920 against the greenback from Wednesday’s close of 4.0920/0960. It traded within a narrow range of 4.0872 to 4.0933 during the session, reflecting cautious sentiment across the foreign-exchange market.
