Texas, United States, 5 November 2026 – Microsoft Corporation will not exercise an option to more than double its existing computing-capacity agreement with UK artificial-intelligence infrastructure provider Nscale at a Texas data centre, according to a person familiar with the matter. The existing contract remains unaffected, the person said. Nscale’s September listing filing separately disclosed Microsoft agreements worth up to approximately US$43.8 billion through December 2033, excluding optional extensions.
The distinction matters to Asian technology suppliers and infrastructure investors: declining additional capacity is not the same as cancelling a signed order. The report concerns optional expansion, while the disclosed contract values remain subject to delivery and service conditions. It does not establish that Microsoft’s broader artificial-intelligence spending is falling or that Nscale has lost the revenue already included in its contracted book.
