Stuttgart, Germany, 27 October 2026 – Mercedes-Benz Group AG lowered its 2026 forecast on Tuesday, cutting the expected adjusted return on sales in its core Cars division to 2%–3% from a range that had reached as high as 5%. The company also expects group earnings before interest and tax to be roughly flat year on year, replacing its previous forecast for a significant increase. It cited a tougher environment in China and higher fourth-quarter costs, including materials expenses.
The revision matters to Asian businesses and investors because China has been an important profit market for global carmakers, while the new outlook makes the region’s weaker conditions visible in a revised full-year margin range. The figures are company guidance; the further implications for product strategy, market share and regional suppliers are analysis, not stated forecasts. Mercedes shares fell as much as 5.4% after the update, and were down by more than one-third this year at the time of the report.
