Putrajaya, 6 November 2026 – Malaysia’s services producer prices rose 3.6% year on year in the third quarter of 2026, up from 2.9% in the second quarter, the Department of Statistics Malaysia reported on Friday. Prices in the eight service industries covered by the index rose 0.7% from the previous quarter, slower than the 1.1% increase recorded between April and June. Passenger air transport prices were 23.4% higher than a year earlier.
The release gives Asian businesses buying services in Malaysia a clearer view of where supplier prices are changing. Transport, accommodation and food services registered much larger annual increases than communications or professional services. For investors, the distinction matters: higher prices can lift revenue for suppliers, but the index does not show whether customers bought more, whether costs rose in step or whether profit margins improved.
