Kuala Lumpur, 27 April 2026 – The Malaysian Media Council has received seven complaints as of 27 April, reflecting early public use of the country’s new media self-regulation mechanism as Malaysia continues efforts to strengthen journalistic accountability and public trust in news reporting.
Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching said the complaints involved issues including reporting accuracy, unauthorised use of images and content that may affect social harmony. Of the seven complaints received, five have been resolved, while two remain under review.
