London, Sydney and Hong Kong, 17 August 2026 – Asia-Pacific local-currency bond markets are capturing a larger share of global issuance as international borrowers diversify funding and regional investors seek high-quality assets in Australian dollars, renminbi, Hong Kong dollars and yen.

Australia’s kangaroo market has recorded about A$60 billion of issuance so far in 2026, roughly 40 per cent more than a year earlier. Hong Kong-dollar issuance has reached a record, while foreign borrowers in Japan have taken advantage of deeper demand even as domestic yields rise.
