Kuala Lumpur, 5 November 2026 – The ringgit closed firmer against the United States dollar after Bank Negara Malaysia maintained its Overnight Policy Rate at 2.75% at the year’s final policy meeting. At 6pm, the currency was quoted at MYR 4.0445 to MYR 4.0490 per US dollar, compared with MYR 4.0610 to MYR 4.0660 at Wednesday’s close.

The move matters to Malaysian importers, exporters and investors with foreign-currency obligations, but it was not a uniform gain against every regional currency. The ringgit strengthened against several major peers and the Singapore dollar, while weakening against the Thai baht, Indonesian rupiah and Philippine peso. The closing quotes describe one market session, not a guaranteed exchange rate for future payments.
