Kuala Lumpur, 6 October 2026 – Wise is adding global QR payments and a customisable eSIM to its app, giving Malaysian travellers a single interface for spending and mobile connectivity across overseas markets.
The rollout responds to a familiar friction point for outbound travellers: local payment systems often work differently from card networks, while mobile-data plans can be difficult to size before a trip. Wise said eligible users will be able to scan QR codes through its app in more than 50 destinations, including merchants connected to Alipay+ and domestic schemes such as Singapore’s PayNow, the Philippines’ QR Ph, Switzerland’s QR-bill and Finland’s Qvik.
