New York, 23 September 2026 – The Nasdaq Composite closed at a record as semiconductor shares rallied, while consumer-facing companies exposed to artificial-intelligence disruption moved in the opposite direction. The index gained 0.45% to 27,244.28 points, the S&P 500 was nearly unchanged at 7,764.64 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.36% to 51,863.69.

Micron Technology rose 5% and Sandisk added almost 7%, extending gains among companies positioned to supply the computing and storage needed for advanced AI systems. Investor attention centred on strong early adoption of Meta’s Muse personal agent, which can send emails and complete transactions. The product’s reception reinforced expectations for continued demand across the AI infrastructure chain.
