Customs figures showed refined-fuel exports totalled 34.24 million tonnes in the first eight months of the year, down 9.6% from the corresponding period a year earlier. Restrictions introduced in mid-March were eased in mid-July. The contrast between a stronger month and a weaker cumulative total is central to interpreting the data: a rebound in recent shipments does not mean the year-to-date shortfall has disappeared. Jet-fuel exports also reached a record high, according to the customs report.
