Washington, 7 October 2026 – Vietnam’s economic outlook has strengthened after the World Bank raised its 2026 growth forecast to 7.4%, reinforcing the country’s position as a key Asian manufacturing and export platform serving the global artificial-intelligence infrastructure cycle.

The new projection is 1.1 percentage points above the institution’s earlier estimate and is the highest forecast among economies highlighted in its latest East Asia and Pacific update. Regional growth is projected at 4.5% for 2026, while Malaysia’s forecast was also raised, by 0.7 percentage point to 5.1%. The revisions show that parts of Southeast Asia are proving more resilient than expected despite energy, trade and geopolitical pressures.
