Hang Seng TECH Overhaul Opens the Door to Hong Kong’s Fastest-Growing Innovators

The Hang Seng TECH Index will expand to 50 constituents, with ten places reserved for fast-growing companies meeting a two-year revenue threshold.

Hong Kong, 7 October 2026 – Hong Kong’s flagship technology benchmark is being redesigned to capture a broader generation of high-growth companies after its established constituents failed to keep pace with the artificial-intelligence rally reshaping global equity markets. The changes create a new route into a widely tracked index for businesses whose sales momentum is stronger than their current market value might suggest.

Hang Seng Indexes Company plans to expand the Hang Seng TECH Index from 30 constituents to 50 in December. Ten of the additions will be selected from companies recording at least HK$500 million in annual sales for two consecutive financial years and ranked for revenue growth, regardless of market capitalisation. The remaining ten will follow the benchmark’s conventional market-value approach, subject to an average daily turnover of at least HK$100 million over the preceding three months.
